Deformed tops have been popular in Japan since the Summer season last year (July & August 2019 period) and this fashion trend is not dying out any time soon in the country. While the Autumn Winter season is coming to an end in February in Japan, many Japanese brands are observed to continue with this fashion trend in their Spring Summer 2020 Collection as well, as one of their key pieces.
The key point of a deformed top is definitely its deformed or irregular design accents, along with its great balance, where you can style it up effortlessly with all kinds of bottoms, be it pants or skirts. For more adventurous individuals, you can go for printed bottoms instead of one-tone ones, such as checkered or florals.
An interesting thing that I have found out during my research of deformed tops was that various brands, which adopted this fashion trend tend to stick to the safer colour choices, namely black, beige, white. However, it could also be due to the reason that the deformed design is quite different from the norms in the market, and the colours would be more acceptable by consumers.
Furthermore, depending on the sleeve length of the tops, it can actually help you to enhance certain physical features. For instance, a long-sleeved deformed top can help to create a relaxed impression. At the same time, if you were to style it with a pair of long skirt and pants, it can help to elongate your overall body structure.
While the trend has not arrived yet in Singapore, it would definitely be lovely to see fashion brands here in Singapore adopt this design as well!
